Most parts of Cambodia have been under serious drought since the first rains in May 2009. Many farmers have prepared their rice nursery but unfortunately since then no more rain in most provinces of Cambodia. This serious drought has caused significant damaged to farmers’ nursery. Domnak Teuk Group through its contract farming have provided rice seed and loan to more than 1000 farm families in late April and May however some of the farm families due to the hardest hit by drought had completely lost their nursery. Through the field assessment in September 2009 farmers are expecting that their rice would recover until the harvest in November 2009 because of daily rain at present. |
